What Would I Be Signing Up for?

The Samaritan Inn provides a no-cost, safe and clean place to live. Living areas for men, women and families are separate. We have a dining room, playroom, computer lab, classrooms, a chapel, a fully-equipped playground, and a kennel for our resident’s dogs!

We serve 3 well balanced meals daily, provide personal hygiene products, free laundry, haircuts, over the counter medicines, and vouchers for needed items and services. Day care and transportation vouchers are also available. Residents attend a variety of classes and meet one-on-one with their professional caseworker to develop an individualized action plan and goals for their success.

What Do I Have To Do?

Residents have to work their individualized action plan which is a pathway to self-sufficiency and independence.  We provide classes in a variety of life skills, like parenting, budgeting, job training, computer skills, customer service,  and more. Individual programs are reviewed regularly to ensure that all the necessary steps are being taken to reach independence in the future. Residents will also be expected to live respectfully in a community living environment which includes chores, curfews and some necessary restrictions and expectations. Residents who graduate from The Samaritan Inn receive items and resources to assist in setting up their new household. Ongoing support is also provided with the goal of ensuring long-term, permanent independence.

When Does The Program End?

As long as residents are working their program goals, working full-time and saving then their stay is dependent upon when they secure their own housing. For those who meet the requirements for our North Texas Gateway Apartments, applications can be made when there are openings. These apartments come fully furnished and provide a step-up rent system for up to 18 months. This is available to shelter residents who graduate the program only.
